Trendy Gear for the Health and Fitness Fashionista in Each of Us

By Jasmin Guleria

If the Summer heat wave has you in a ‘stay indoors with the AC cranked up’ kind of mood, indoor workouts like yoga posing, dancing, or even treadmill running may be your best bet to beat the sun’s heat. Below are the latest and greatest products for the indoor yogis, runners, and dancers in each of us...

Yoga Stick-e Socks – 30 minutes into a yoga class, many of us feel a lot less zen and a lot more aggravated at the slip and slide action happening between our feet and yoga mat as we move from pose to pose. Yoga Stick-e Socks has got you covered. These non-slip sweat-absorbing pseudo-socks give you that barefoot feeling, while increasing your ability for better slip-free poses. They also protect you from the nasty germs and bacteria that are most definitely on your yoga mat.

DENVER (MyFOXColorado.com) - Hanging upside down, jumping on a slanted platform, even sticking like glue to a yoga mat.

Yoga Stick-e-Socks, Gloves and Towel

Chicago Tribune, Find Outer Peace with Yoga Socks

Sunday, July 27, 2008

One element cuts into your peaceful, easy feeling at yoga:  the classroom mats.  More specifically standing on them with sweaty bare feet, just like all the other practitioners before you.  If you’re not willing to tote your own mat, Yoga Stick-e Socks provide a hygienic alternative.  Cutouts for toes help youget a grip for poses.  But the antibacterial bamboo fabric provides a moisture absorbing, non-slip surface.  They’re designed not just for yoga but also dance, gymnastics, pilates, karate and even pedicures.   The socks are clearly touching a chakra.  Bed Bath and Beyond has picked up the socks for 30 stores across the country.  Yoga Stick-e socks are $19.95 at yogastickysocks.com, where you can also preorder the upcoming Stick-e Gloves ($17.95) and Stick-e Towel ($29.95).

Gear's Just Gotta Be Fun

The Novaks have been on a mission for the last few months to find more yoga and Pilates gear they can sell.  In fact, they picked up an item called Yoga Stick-e Socks (www.yogastickysocks.com) after reading about the toeless crop socks (MSRP $20) with a rubberized sole in SNEWS in February.  The sock company had just been announced as a finalist for a BrandNew award at the winter ispo show in Germany.

Founder Libby Andrews has been swamped with requests and orders for her socks and will exhibit at the Health & Fitness Business show in July to introduce what she calls a Stick-e Towel ($30.00) that, like her bamboo socks , has a rubberized strip on one side, created to solve the problem of towels that slip off benches, mats or treadmills.  SHe's also off to create a "Stick-e" empire with a mat coming soon.

Hello Beautiful

Yoga Stick-e Gloves     By Alyson Mance June 9, 10:43 AM

Yoga Stick-e Gloves Okay, this one's a personal Gimme. I love yoga, but I also have the clammiest hands in the world. Gross. However, there's now a company called Stick-e that makes gloves, socks, and yoga mats that stick to the ground so you aren't sliding all over the place while posing, and it's quite possibly one of the most clever-yet-simple inventions of the past few years.

stick-e socksOn the socks and gloves, here's a little grippy gel pad where your soles/palms go, so you can enjoy a relaxing session without sliding all over the place in the meantime (all those other Clammy Sammies out there know exactly how ridiculously difficult Downward Dog is when your palms aren't cooperating).

Also, the fact that these were invented at all means there are more people like me out there, which is kind of a comforting feeling. I'm now addicted to these things!

Stick-e also has a "Hip Hop Yoga" DVD, but I don't know about all that.

Yoga Stick-e Socks – Owner and inventor Libby Andrews was blown away with the reaction to her toeless socks, just out in December, with a rubbery bottom for yoga. In fact, she said on the first day she already had distributors fighting over the rights for their country. They are a fascinating, simple idea that goes beyond yoga to dance, martial arts and other forms of workouts and practices that are best with barefeet but where you need a little grip or protection. www.yogastickysocks.com

Eco Friendly Yoga Socks

From some of my other posts you know I am a yoga fan. Yoga is awesome for stretching out those sore muscles you get from sitting too long at a computer…not that I…do that or anything.  But I ran into a yoga problem at my new house. The room I like to do yoga in (floor to ceiling windows all along one wall) has a hard wood laminate floor and when you do yoga on a rug or a yoga mat…you slip and slide and almost break your neck…or smack your head into the brick fireplace…neither of which is very fun or calming. Even the so-called “sticky” mats don’t often work….I have a few different mats. Bare feet on the floor doesn’t work either…darn that oil slick in my family room.

Then I found a truly ingenious AND as luck would have it, eco friendly solution...
