About Libby Andrews, inventor of Yoga Stick-e® Socks for that Barefoot Feeling!
In 1994, Libby Andrews received her MBA at the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business. After graduating, Libby continued to pursue a career in sales and sales management in technology for another 8 years before switching careers to full-time homemaker and mother.
Libby Andrews started Libby’s Luxuries in September of 2003. At the time, Libby’s children were 1, 2, and 3 years of age. Since that time, Libby has developed a growing and profitable business of custom made leather and exotic skin handbags and jewelry and patented Yoga Stick-e ® Socks… for that Barefoot Feeling!
Libby’s jewelry line is currently carried in upscale stores across the Midwest including MarkShale and Halls. It is also featured frequently at Bloomingdale’s trunk shows. Additionally, Libby’s jewelry may be viewed at her website, www.libbysluxe.com.
Libby has always been very active in a wide variety of sports including triathlons, tennis, rock climbing, sailing, weight lifting, and in-line skating among others. As a result, Yoga was a natural addition to round out her athletic endeavors.
In 2004, the inspiration for Yoga Stick-e ® Socks… for that Barefoot Feeling! came from Libby's concern over the cleanliness of the health club floor, mats and equipment. Additionally, the inability for feet to “stick” when they are sweating was another challenge during Yoga classes. Libby observed that as many as 40% of the participants in the Yoga classes she attended were wearing socks.
In 2006, Libby Andrews received a patent for Yoga Sticky Socks, U.S. patent #7107626. In 2007, Libby received the trademark for Stick-e® that will be the basis for a full line of products beginning to roll out in 2008.
In the first 3 months since introducing Yoga Stick-e ® Socks…for that Barefoot Feeling!, Yoga Stick-e Socks have been ordered by retailers and distributors worldwide. Additionally, editorial requests and content have been received from numerous magazine and media outlets including NBC, Fit Yoga, Fitness Magazine, BODY, GearTrends, Positive Thinking Magazine, Envy, Aura Magazine, Playgirl, HealthWise and many more.
A highlight for Yoga Stick-e ® Socks was becoming a finalist in ispo BrandNew. Ispo is the world’s largest sporting goods tradeshow held in Munich Germany. BrandNew is the competition looking for new innovative sporting goods. There were 265 entrants from 26 different countries. Yoga Stick-e ® Socks received a special tradeshow booth in the BrandNew products pavilion in ispo Winter’08.
In June of 2008, Biz-OverTM honored Libby along with 10 other Chicago entrepreneurial women for being unique, successful and style savvy women in business.
